Summary: Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in one or more sections of the laboratory.
FTE Status: Full Time
80 hours per pay period
Responsibilities: Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results.
Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements.
Performs projects as assigned as well as serves as a consultant to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Credentials: Essential: * Medical Laboratory Technician * American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Other information: Minimum Required Education: Associate's degree in related field and graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program. Required Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or by the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. State licensure if required by law. Relevant certification as determined at position level. Minimum Experience: None Required.
