Part-time position: 20 hours, 2.5 days/week (0.5 FTE) Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, with occasional additional hours, including evenings and weekends, for meetings, classes, and support groups
As a Clinical Dietitian I, this individual will specialize in adult weight management with bariatric patients working in the Surgical Weight Loss Center with patients undergoing surgical weight loss procedures . This position involves working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, including RDs, in the ambulatory setting to guide and support patients through their weight loss journey.
We are seeking a compassionate Registered Dietitian with experience in weight management and behavior change counseling. The ideal candidate is interested in working with diverse populations and is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical setting. This candidate has a strong interest in teaching patient classes, leading support groups, developing patient education materials and precepting interns through our dietetic internship program. As patients occasionally require tube feedings or TPN, the ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge in the management of patients on nutrition support (both parenteral and enteral nutrition). Excellent communication skills are crucial for both patient education and communication with members of the interdisciplinary team
Responsibilities: Assesses patient's nutritional status and needs. Develops and implements patient care plans and assesses patient responses.
Collaborates with physicians, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare team members/departments to determine, coordinate, and provide medical nutrition therapy. Participates in and coordinates departmental initiatives relative to patient care.
Develops and conducts education programs for patients, physicians, nurses, and other health care team members/departments, and/or the public.
Functions as a preceptor in support of the dietetic internship program
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's in Human Nutrition or related field required.
Required Licensure/Certification: Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration required within 3 months of hire. - PREFERRED credentials: Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Certified Specialist in Obesity & Weight Management, or Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management
Minimum Experience: None required- One year experience in weight management counseling preferred
