General Statement of Duties:
The Registered CardiovascularTechnologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills in the careof his/ her patients. The delivery ofcare is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on physical, psychosocial,cultural, safety, and learning needs of the individual patient. The Registered Cardiovascular Tech willperform only those duties for which he/ she has demonstrated competency. The Registered Cardiovascular Tech performsdelegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within thephilosophy and overall plan of care. Works as a team member to assist thephysician in performing the invasive cardiac procedures. Duties include scrubbing, recording and X-Rayoperation. Performs ancillary dutiesrelated to the job such as quality control, inventory and stocking as assignedby the supervisor. Provides allcustomers with the service/tests needed in a safe, friendly and efficientmanner. The CardiovascularTechnologist’s aim is to provide quality health care in the area of coronaryangiography and cardiac or other vascular procedures as required by the CardiacCath Lab Department. When need arises,will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
C.A.R.E Pool Cardiovascular Tech’s are required to work thefollowing:
Hours per Pay Period: TierIII (Specialty technician): Minimum hours, weekend commitment, anddemographic location determined by the group and POD in the HealthONE CARE poolAgreement.
Holiday Requirements: Tier III (Specialty technician) per diem:1 Major or 1 minor holiday, and 1 difficult to staff day annually. Tier III benefited: 1 Major and 1 minorholiday, and 1 difficult to staff day annually.
HealthONE C.A.R.E Pool employeeswill be required to float to all HealthONE facilities within the chosen pod. C.A.R.EPool employees will be scheduled in units in which they have competencies. C.A.R.EPool employees can be placed in a unit below their competency level with a modifiedassignment.
Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular trainingprogram or Radiologic training program
Tier IIICardiovascular Technicians are required to have a current National registrywith Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a RegisteredCardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or with American Registry ofRadiologic Technologists (ARRT).
CurrentBasic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification upon hire.
Minimumof at least two years of cardiovascular technician experience for Tier III.
Demonstratesgood organizational skills.
Providessafe and appropriate patient care within the Values & Standards.
Displaysappropriate judgment and problem solving skills.
Communicatespositively and professionally with all internal and external customers.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Skills commensurate with formal training or on the job trainingsuch as operation of all cardiovascular lab equipment and instrumentation,scrub and monitor to include emergent procedures. Displays good communication andorganizational skills
2. Experienced in all aspects as aseptic technique, setting up therequired equipment and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases;pulling cases as needed; and breaking down cases at the end of the procedure.
3. Must have a good working knowledge of radiographic, hemodynamicmonitoring, recording equipment and/or devices relative to cardiovascularprocedures.
4. May come in contact with medications and therefore mustdemonstrate understanding of proper medication management and storage as wellas maintaining a secure medication environment
5. Performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope ofpractice and functions within the philosophy
