This position is responsible for assessing learning needs, designing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs (i.e., orientations, continuing education, and in-services) for the Respiratory Therapy staff and other hospital personnel that facilitates the professional growth, clinical competency, and compliance with all regulatory standards. Ensures that applicable regulatory and clinical standards of care are met within the organization related to therapist competency, patient education, and other education related standards. Provides patient care as indicated.
What You Bring/Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Associates degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education Program, i.e. CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP
Bachelors degree preferred
Three years of respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting
Knowledge and experience in medical/trauma terminology, disease conditions, pharmacology, treatment modalities, therapeutic testing and interventions
Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards and compliance
Strong facilitation and communications skills; both written and verbal
Knowledge and experience in computer instructional technology, distance learning, and Microsoft Office Professional software
Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR), preferred
Current credential of RRT by N.B.R.C Current state Respiratory Therapist Licensure (RLT) in applicable state of employment
Current BLS certification from American Heart Association Current ACLS certification form American Heart Association upon hire or obtain within 6 months of hire
Current PALS certification upon hire or obtain within 6 months of hire (Required for Parker, Littleton, Castle Rock, St. Thomas Moore, St. Mary Corwin, Avista, Penrose-St. Francis Health Services)
Current NRP certification upon hire or obtain within 6 months of hire (Required for Parker, Littleton, Castle Rock, St. Thomas Moore, St. Mary Corwin, Avista, St. Francis, St. Anthony North) Specialty certification/credential preferred, i.e., NPS, ACCS, COPD Educator, Asthma Educator, etc.
Physical Requirements -Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly
