Under the directsupervision of the core lab supervisor, coordinates the core laboratorydiagnostic services for inpatients and outpatients to provide accurate testresults in a timely manner. Assures that the department meets technicalrequirements for all regulatory agencies. Reviews quality control in thedepartment and resolves any associated problems as directed by supervisor.Supervises, develops, and evaluates department’s technical staff. Counselsemployees and follows hospital employee policies. Maintains communication withthe core lab supervisor, pathologist and the laboratory director. Performs allresponsibilities of a bench technologist in the core lab. Must be technicallyproficient and detail-oriented and capable of performing several diverse tasksat the same time. Other related duties as required or assigned by thelaboratory director.

Maintains the Laboratory Information System. Provides hardware and software technical support to laboratory staff, trouble shoots miscellaneous problems. Contacts and logs problems with CPCS as required. Maintain laboratory LIS user access. Coordinates implementation of software and hardware upgrades. Maintains laboratory charge description master. Reviews and revises Laboratory Information System Policies and procedures to assure compliance with regulatory agency standards. Coordinates and maintains Order Entry Procedures for LAB, MIC, BBK procedures. Develops NPR reports as requested. Audits database edits. Corrects billing batch rejections. Assists Laboratory Director as requested.
ASCP, NCA, AMT or HEW preferred
A college graduate or equivalent who has passed a certification examination for Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP Certification. NCA and ASCP Certification requires a B.A. or B.S. in Medical Technology or related field (Chemistry, Biology, etc.), and one-year internship or appropriate experience prior to examination. Associate degree and successful completion of an accredited MLT program, with ASCP Board Certification.
Advance coursework in computer sciences or data processing recommended.
Two (2) to three (3) years hospital clinical experience.
Must be able to work well with hospital staff, physicians, and physician office staff
Must possess good communications skills
Ability to read and interpret technical computer communications a must
A working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs preferred
Degree of Supervision Required:
Minimal supervision required, must be able to perform job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
