Under the supervision of the Acute Care Pharmacy Operations Manager, manages, supervises, coordinates and organizes the day-to-day pharmacy technician activities in the acute care pharmacy. Under the operations manager, helps to provide oversight and development of data-driven quality assurance for all covered pharmacy areas. Responsible for the scheduling, competency, evaluation, corrective action when necessary and training of pharmacy technicians. Oversees the provision of safe, effective, and efficient technical aspects of pharmacy services including but not limited to: medication procurement, storage, security, preparation and distribution. Participates and coordinates the recruitment, selection, hiring, and evaluation of pharmacy technicians. Ensures that assigned personnel demonstrate a level of competence, professionalism, and customer service as defined and required by job performance standards and pharmacy professional practice. Ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with all applicable Federal and State laws, applicable regulatory bodies, and policies and procedures of the organization and the pharmacy department.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education: High school diploma or GED. Associates Degree preferred. Advanced pharmacy technician education or training preferred. Experience: Typically, five years minimum of experience as a pharmacy technician. Three to five years of managerial and supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of training and supervisory skills. Knowledge of equal employment opportunity policies and procedures. Knowledge of employee policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the compounding and dispensing of medications. Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutics, drugs, narcotics, poisons, and related state and federal laws. Thorough knowledge of stock control and record keeping related to the daily work of an inpatient pharmacy. Ability to assume responsibility for the operation and oversight of acute care pharmacy technicians. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports. Thorough knowledge of Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word required. ~Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
