JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the incumbent in this position will be responsible for the supervision of the daily activities of the technician staff assigned to pharmacy operations and services, and for operational activities and processes designed to provide efficient medication dispensing, distribution, customer service, including the review and prioritization of daily operations workload, serving as the primary resource for technician staff on clinical and administrative issues, and coordination of pharmacy operational functions with other departments/sections. Ensures appropriate training, education, and competency of pharmacy technician staff. Participates in the recruitment, selection, hiring, and evaluation of pharmacy technicians. Responsible for the scheduling, competency, when necessary and training of pharmacy technicians. Ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with all applicable Federal and State laws, applicable regulatory bodies, and policies and procedures of the organization and the pharmacy department.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education: Technical College Certificate in Pharmacy Technician; Associates Degree preferred. Combination of education and relevant experience can be considered. Experience: Typically, five or more years of experience in a technician pharmacy role preferably in a hospital network setting. Experience in a management or lead role is preferred. Experience with process improvement and project management is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of training and supervisory skills, including staff professional development. Knowledge of equal employment opportunity policies and procedures. Knowledge of employee policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the compounding and dispensing of medications. Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutics, drugs, narcotics, poisons, and related state and federal laws. Thorough knowledge of stock control and record keeping relevant to the area of practice. Ability to assume responsibility for the operation and oversight of pharmacy technicians. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports. Thorough knowledge of Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word required. ~Current CPhT certification is required. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
