Manage elective surgical cases for insurance and authorization clearance to prevent surgical denials.
•Work with surgery schedulers to identify when cases are scheduled
•Maintain physician relationships by providing great customer service when communicating about patient demographics/surgical cases
•Work with the facility admission and clinical staff to escalate problematic cases
•Be able to verify active insurance and update I-plans accordingly
•Access payer portals to locate and scan authorization letters
•Call insurance companies to verify an authorization
•Identify partial approvals and denials for elective surgeries
•Identify the correct status of a patient; inpatient VS outpatient
•Identify if an implant is needed on high dollar cases and check if authorization is needed
•Identify out of network insurances and escalate accordingly
•Work through eSurgical to access clinical information/scheduling sheets when needed
•Update authorization and insurance information within Meditech
•Review surgery schedule the day prior to services being rendered to ensure accuracy of all authorization and insurance information
•Review surgery schedule 3+ weeks in advance to proactively identify problems

•Be familiar with CPT/HCPC codes •Ability to type/ten key 40-60 words per minute •Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Internet searches, and relevant data bases (OnBase, Meditech,eSurgical, Payer Portals). •Ability to work independently and under pressure to follow through on problematic cases •Ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations. •Ability to work effectively with other employees and external parties. EDUCATION •High school education
EXPERIENCE •Minimum of 2 years of hospital clerical experience preferred •Minimum of 3-5 years of Insurance verification preferred
