Position Description: The Decision Support Services (DSS) Data Engineer will develop and maintain data architecture to support Continental Division DSS growth analytics data products and services. The ideal candidate is an experienced data wrangler who enjoys developing and administering analytics databases and building data systems from the ground up. The position is tasked with developing and updating data infrastructure using best practices to assure that Division reporting and analytics capabilities meet the strategic growth needs of multiple stakeholders.
The role will be responsible for implementing changes in development, maintenance, and system standards to accomplish a consistent implementation of growth analytical support tools across the Division.
SUPERVISOR: Manager of Decision Support
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Aid the creation of growth analytical tools and reports across the division
Design, develop, test, document, monitor and optimize data sources for various internal stakeholders
Recommend and implement processes to improve data reliability, quality, efficiency, and velocity
Build and manage relational databases, Tabular cubes, SSIS packages, Business Objects reports, Power BI reports and other data products
Act as DBA for Microsoft SQL Server including management of ETL processes, schema design, query tuning, access control, backups, etc.
Aid deployment and access to stakeholder reporting tools including Power BI, Microsoft Excel, etc.
Build and manage data pipelines including data ingestion from multiple sources, processing, modeling, testing, automation and documentation
Troubleshoot and resolve user data and access issues and questions
Prepare on-demand analyses and ad-hoc reports
Explore and evaluate new data sources for integration into DSS tools
Adhere to Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statements
Complete other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
A minimum of 3-5 years progressive experience working with and managing relational databases, SQL Query authoring, creating multidimensional cubes, DAX and MDX expression building, creating data pipelines and designing scalable data models
Demonstrated competence managing Microsoft SQL Server
Expertise with T-SQL and experience using at least one other ANSI SQL platform (Teradata, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
Experience developing and maintaining user access to data, directory folders, and distribution lists using Active Directory and Row Level Security
Knowledge of Teradata, Oracle ESSBASE, QlikView, and SAP Business Objects
Agile learner able to adapt to complex organizational structure and varying stakeholder needs
Ability to oversee and effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to include ability to conduct presentations and trainings to small intercompany groups as well as large client gathering
Ability to perform work, special assignments, and tasks under only very general supervision.
Knowledge of healthcare terminology is useful but not required
Experience with Git, Python for data analysis and process automation, Hadoop, Meditech Magic, stream processing, workflow management tools (Airflow, Luigi) and continuous integration are a plus.

EDUCATION •Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or related quantitative field is required
EXPERIENCE •3-5 years of progressively responsible work experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires prolonged sitting, bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriately. Requires lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally. Majority of work is performed in an office environment with auto travel and some air/overnight travel required. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.
