Position Summary: The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers highquality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basicpatient care services related to common nursing functions and activities ofdaily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCTassists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with thePCT’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assiststhe patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safepatient care environment. The PCT complies with all hospitalpolicies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensedpersonnel.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Nursing Assistant Certification, or must havecompleted first year at an accredited Nursing program which included amedical/surgical rotation from an accredited school. BLS-Healthcareprovider.
Education: High school diploma/GEDrequired. Successful completion of yearly competency skills.
Experience/ Special Qualifications:
One year hospital experience preferred.
Knowledge of basic clinical practices, procedures, and standards.
Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patientcare.
Basic knowledge of computer systems and good interpersonal skills.
Strong critical thinking skills, leadership skills, and communicationskills.
Degree of Supervision Required: Involvesgeneral guidance and direction by the Patient Care Director, Nurse Manager,Unit Charge Nurse or Staff RN. Employeewill be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordancewith established departmental and hospital policies and procedure
