PositionSummary: This position supports the mission of TheMedical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza of optimizing the quality oflife of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medicalneeds to the needs of the whole person. Responsibleevaluation of behavioral health clients in an acute setting to determineappropriate level of inclusion in music therapy.
Determines strategies fortherapeutic interventions through the use of music. Participates in theinterdisciplinary process of individualized treatment planning. Whenneed arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

A.Licensure/Certification/Registration:BLS-Healthcare provider through the American HeartAssociation, CPI certification within 6 months of hire and re-certificationevery 2 years thereafter.
B.Education:Bachelor’s degree with certification as a Music Therapist (MT-BC).Master’s degree and experience in BehavioralHealth related field preferred.
C.Experience:One to three years of clinical/direct behavioral healthcare experience
D.SpecialQualifications:Must have excellent written, verbal andinterpersonal communication skills and able to work with a highly diversepopulation.Must be knowledgeable ofADAD and JCAHO standards. Must be knowledgeable of behavioral health evaluationand consultation processes.Must haveability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work in high stressenvironment.Must be able to applycritical thinking and formulate diagnostic impressions based upon review ofsystems, history, symptoms and current presentation.Must be able to provide crisis interventionand utilize system resources/referrals.
Degree of supervision required:Involves general guidance and direction by the Director ClinicalServices.Employee will be expected toperform most job duties independently and in accordance with establisheddepartmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Populations and Ages of PatientsServed:This position requires knowledge ofgrowth and developmental needs of patients and families.Personnel in this position must recognize andrespond to the behaviors of patients and families in each age category.The employee must be able to demonstrate thespecial skills required to care for patients and their families according tostandards.(The skills and knowledge neededto provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.)
