PositionSummary: Under the supervisionof the Pharmacy Residency Director,the Pharmacy Resident is responsible for the safe, effective, andcost-effective use of drugs through the application of specialized knowledge,skills, and professional judgment. The Pharmacy resident supervises pharmacytechnicians and interns. The Pharmacy Resident will be a self-directed,independent, motivated learner guided by the Residency Program Director andappropriate preceptor(s) for each learning experience. In addition to learningexperience rotations the resident will serve as a staff pharmacist every 3rdweekend and is accountable for the preparation and distribution of allmedications to patient care areas and providing clinical pharmacy services to physiciansand other hospital personnel. The Resident will also perform duties and attendfunctions as assigned by Regis University School of Pharmacy and be required tocomplete the Teaching Certificate Program. The Resident will be required tosuccessfully design, complete IRB submission for approval/exemption, carry out,and develop a manuscript of a major project to be determined within the first 2months of the residency start date. The objective is to present a poster at theASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and the results of this research at the WesternStates Residency Conference. A manuscript will be developed and completed bythe end of the residency year, and publication is strongly encouraged thoughnot required.

a.Licensure/Certification/Registration: The Resident must belicensed by the State of Colorado Board of Pharmacy within 3 months of thestart of Residency
BLS and ACLS certificationthrough American Heart Association or American Red Cross when first classoffered after start of program. The Resident is also expected to be a registered member of the American Societyof Health-System Pharmacists.
b.Education: Pharm.D. or BS with equivalent experience from an ACPE-accredited College ofPharmacy.
c.Experience: None required
d.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Typing ability; Effective oral and written communication skills; Computerskills. Demonstrated skills commensurate with formal training.
II.Degree of Supervision Required:
General guidance anddirection by the Pharmacy Residency Director, Pharmacy Residency Coordinator,and Preceptors. Resident will be expected to perform most job dutiesindependently and in accordance with established departmental and hospitalpolicies and procedures.
12-month period from July 1stto June 30th; or time period designated by program with start datecoinciding with facility orientation day closest to July 1st.
Includeshospital rooms, clinical departments, common areas, non-clinical departments,and hospital grounds.
