Under minimal supervision, performs managerial and leadership functions over professional nursing and support staff in various healthcare consumer care settings. Applies critical thinking, evidence-based policies, procedures, guidelines and competence to collaborate with the health care team to promote excellence in healthcare consumer safety and quality outcomes and independently works with the Nurse Manager to maintain departmental budget. Adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing Administration Scope and Standards of Practice to provide leadership with the nursing process. Education: Completion of an accredited nursing education program that satisfies the licensing requirements of the Colorado State Board of Nursing for Registered Nurses. As of March 1, 2016, all new applicants for Associate Manager Nursing will require a BSN in order to apply. Master's preferred.
Experience: Typically, three (3) years nursing experience. Three years of RN Charge/supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Skilled in decision making regarding appropriateness of care review, assist with research design planning, and analyzing and generating quality improvement reports. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other internal and external team members to ensure timelines are met. Ability to act as a resource to staff for clinical, operational and administrative questions. Able to effectively recruit, develop, and retain staff.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider Certification/CPR. Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Colorado or a participating compact state. National board certification will be required in a reasonable time frame after the Associate Nurse Manager role with a goal and timeframe for completion to be determined by the nurse leader with his or her supervisor. *Specialty certifications as required/recommended per unit. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment
