The Unit Coordinator supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Provides coordination of non-nursing unit functions, maintaining unit relationships with non-clinical services to facilitate efficient interdepartmental and unit functioning. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Duties may include, but are not limited to:manages visitor security, orients families to the environment, assists with the Admission process and order entry, maintains unit equipment and supplies, and participates in general cleaning of equipment per appropriate guidelines.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider within 6 months of hire
Two years experience as a unit secretary or previous clerical experience. Knowledge of medical terminology, basic clinical practice and computer systems. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. Good telephone and interpersonal skills. Health care experience preferred.
Computer skills, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Organizational skills and attention to detail required. Ability to communicate effectively with patient, families, physicians and other health care team members. Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills.
