Denver Health is hiring a full time APP for our Neurosurgery team.
Under general supervision provides care of general Neurosurgery patients. Functions as advance practice provider support for Adult Neurosurgery Service in the Subspecialty Clinics. Performs and assists with procedures as needed. Teaches medical, physician assistant and nursing students, as well as Neurology, Psychiatry and Internal Medicine residents in all aspects of clinical Neurology in the Subspecialty Clinics.
1.Direct Patient Care in Neurology Subspecialty Clinics and other areas of Neurology Service activity. Completes required chart documentation legibly, thoroughly and in a timely manner.
2.Performs Neurology specific procedures including but not limited to lumbar puncture, BOTOX injections, trigger point injections, otolith repositioning maneuvers, neurology device implant programming, etc.. Attends and participates in administrative staff meetings. Participates in Denver Health initiatives including RIEs and Committees.
3.Screens new patient referrals for appropriateness, follows up critical lab values in clinic, patient calls, script refills, general clinic duties.
4.Teaching of medical students, physician assistant students and nursing students, as well as Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Psychiatry residents on the Denver Health Neurology Rotation.

1.Knowledge of medical principles and procedures.
2.Skill in performing physical exams, formulation assessments of and treatment plans for patients.
3.Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis.
4.Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications.
5.Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.
6.Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
7.Ability to competently perform Neurology specific procedures.
8.Ability to enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and continuing education.
9.Accountability for role in department's productivity, efficiency and financial viability.
Education & Experience
1.Graduation from an accredited educational program for Physician Assistants and successful completion of certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
2.Additional training in Neurology preferred.
3.One year related clinical experience preferred.
1.Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification/CPR.
2.Licensed by the State of Colorado as a Physician Assistant; must register supervising physician upon assignment with the Colorado Board of Medical Examiner's.
