The Biomedical Engineer effectively applies knowledge of engineering, biology, and bio-mechanical principles to the support, design, development, and evaluation of biomedical health systems and products, such as prostheses, biomedical equipment and instrumentation, medical information systems, and health management and care delivery systems. The Biomedical Engineer manages and maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Program and Denver Health business standards. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of complex biomedical equipment. The engineer may participate in the evaluation and selection of new equipment, accessories and supplies. Coordinates special projects and performs technical tasks. The Biomedical Engineer provides technical guidance to other Bio-med Tech I, II and III employees. Adheres to instructions and corporate policies and demonstrates professionalism with integrity in all interactions with customers and staff.
Education 1. Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering required. Experience 1. Six years Biomedical Technology Military training or other experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment required. 2. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, must have Biomedical Engineering Associates degree plus nine years relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. . 2. Knowledge of applicable trade areas. 3. Listening, organizational and analytical skills. 4. Maturity, self-development and integrity. 5. Ability to deal with high stress/pressure situations and manage complex customer situations. 6. Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Computers and Technology 1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 2. IT and networking knowledge. 3. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and basic programming.
