Under minimum supervision, assists with interpreter service requests. Responsible for handling established process for all translation requests, keeping translation database and proof reading translated materials. Assists supervisor with monthly reporting and monitoring and acts as a backup for Obscure and Sign Language Requests. Assists supervisor in training of new staff and staffing schedules. Assists in training, scheduling, monitoring and evaluating the work of Volunteer and Student Intern Medical Interpreters. Interprets for medical staff and limited English proficiency patients and their families requiring language assistance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education 1. Graduation from High School or possession of a GED certificate. Experience 1. Three years of medical interpreter experience required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Excellent customer service skills. 2. Exceptional timeliness in routinely responding to face to face interpretation request within Key Performance Indicators. 3. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. 4. Ability to communicate effectively. 5. Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish and pass a Medical Interpreter assessment test. Certificates, Licenses and Registration 1. Medical Interpretation & Translation Degree preferred. 2. Certification of completion of a 40 hour medical interpreter training preferred.
