As a Regional Float Pool Pharmacy Tech, you need to know how to:
Work with patients, providers, and insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations
Answer phones and enter notes from physicians in a timely manner
Accurately read, interpret and enter prescriptions in a timely manner
Route questionable prescriptions to the pharmacist for completion
Prepare medication orders and delivers prescriptions according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
Accurately type, bill and prepare prescriptions to extent allowed by state and federal rules and regulations
Perform basic calculations to determine doses and correct day supplies to be billed to 3rd party insurance companies
Evaluate and process approval of prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received by telephone and/or fax using client clinical criteria
Communicate pharmacist's guidance on appropriateness of medication to physicians, physician's office staff, and medical management staff
Research, resolve and document prior authorization outcomes in pharmacy system
Communicate selected prior authorization criteria, pharmacy benefit coverage and formulary alternatives to physicians, physician's office staff, medical management staff and/or pharmacists. Escalate requests to Pharmacist when request requires extensive clinical review or denial
File prescriptions hardcopies, reports, and other pharmacy records, providing information to associates regarding available pharmacy benefits and services
Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives

High School Diploma or equivalent
Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT)
At least two (2) years working as a pharmacy tech
Previous retail pharmacy experience
