Job Summary Under minimal supervision, ensures all aspects of care for the adult trauma patient are documented and entered in the registry and meet standards of care. Ability to read and interpret clinical data from a medical record. Performs a variety of functions to support the collection and coordination of Trauma Performance Improvement statistics with emphasis on data entry into a comprehensive computerized management system. Collects trauma data for injury research and prevention as well as quality improvement tracking and assures accuracy and confidentiality in the handling of all Trauma registry related matters and is concerned with and active in the improvement of trauma Registry Program within the facility. Works collaboratively with the Trauma Nurse Coordinators. Acts as a resource for nursing staff, physicians, and other ancillary services. Acts as an educator and participates in research and publication activities.
Education 1. Associates Degree in Nursing required. 2. Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience 1. Five years professional nursing practice in Trauma/General Surgery, Critical and/or Acute Care, Emergency Care required. 2. Previous trauma registry or trauma services experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Familiarity with ICD10 diagnosis and procedure coding: completion of an Abbreviated Injury Scale Coding Class within 6 months of employment. 2. Ability to interpret clinical data from a medical records: anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology related to traumatic injuries. 3. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. 4. Up to date on current trauma rules in Colorado and the American College of Surgeons, and TQIP. 5. Knowledge of the trauma continuum of care including standards (national and regional), guidelines, relevant policies and procedures and clinical care guidelines. 6. Ability to build and foster collegial relationships with key stakeholders at referring facilities. 7. Ability to assist in development, revision, and implementation of protocols, policies and/or guidelines 8. Other duties as assigned Computers and Technology 1. Microsoft Office Suite 2. Database experience Certificates, Licenses and Registration 1. CPR Certificate required - BLS through the AHA or AMR. 2. Current Colorado RN License required. Location Shift Work Type Pay Range Minimum: 29.50 Midpoint: 35.92 Maximum: 43.92 All job applicants for safety-sensitive positions must pass a pre-employment drug test, once a conditional offer of employment has been made.
