The position of Grant Contracts Manager is responsible for protecting Denver Health interests relating to the business of Hospital reviewing and negotiating contracts, agreements and sub agreements with outside sources (e.g. federal funding agencies, industry, other universities and foundations collectively, sponsors); recognizing and addressing federal and Hospital compliance issues; determining that a contract is ready for signature; and providing input and guidance on contract interpretation and administration throughout the contract term. The Grant Contracts Manager will report to the DHHA Director of SPARO and have a dotted line reporting relationship to the General Counsel, Legal.The Grant Contracts Manager must possess customer service skills appropriate for a fast-paced, high-volume, dynamic, and intellectually challenging work environment and possess the ability to prioritize a variety of diverse projects and their deadlines using exceptional time management skills and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
1. Review and negotiate contracts, agreements and sub agreements with all outside sources (federal, industry, government).2. Maintain industry-leading contract turnaround times, as determined by Director of SPARO.3. Maintain and update contract templates with current regulatory requirements.4. Collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with Legal.5. Independently analyze information to identify issues and risks, define problems, craft alternative language as necessary and formulate and deliver resolutions6. Effectively manage large volume and complex workload7. Consistent receive positive customer feedback8. Demonstrate excellence in quality of finalized contracts and associated record keeping 9. Monitor subrecipients, conduct risk assessments, and implement Subrecipient Monitoring Plans as necessary10. Maintain all FFATA reporting11. Develop and maintain Lean Management System and Lean principles12. Assist SPARO in the attainment of its strategic goals including process improvement and the development of Standard Work 13. Consistently provide Leadership for SPARO 14. Consistently provide assistance and participation in special projects, initiatives, and functional area tasks which are unusual and in addition to the normal workflow15. Handle more complex contracts and resulting negotiations and demonstrate an understanding of the field of Research Administration as a whole sufficient to serve as a point of contact for guidance to other staff members and customers16. Provide contract training to customers and SPARO analysts.17. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities1. Knowledge of federal regulations, state statutes, Hospital policy, best practices and project requirements.2. Knowledge of the administrative processes and procedures for the preparation and/or review of contract documents and templates, both internal and external to the Hospital, including consistency of provisions and terms within the contract documents (i.e., statement of work, contract, attachments), 3. Basic knowledge of cost accounting standards and specific requirements for federal awards. 4. Ability to identify and address potential risk and/or contractual issues.5. Ability to guide investigators and other Hospital personnel through business decisions related to contracts.6. Ability to set priorities, manage time effectively, and meet multiple deadlines.7. Ability to provide prompt and effective customer service to Hospital stakeholders.8. Ability to represent the Hospital to external sponsors and provide liaison with internal departments, (e.g. Legal; Enterprise Compliance Services; Grant Accounting, CU Innovations, and departments).9. This position requires strict attention to detail, outstanding organization skills, excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities and hard deadlines effectively. 10. Experience 1. Five years of prior translatable work experience is required (contract formation, negotiation, research administration and/or management).
Clinical Research Associate (CRA), Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP), or Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) preferred
