You have at least 3 years of patient preauthorization and billing experience which is required for this position.

You understand healthcare insurance processes to include pre-authorization and check for insurance coverage.

Your day.

As a Patient Financial Advocate you know that every day is different, which is why you need to know how to:

• Relay financial information/policies re: co-pays to new patients, plus policy for procedures.
• Assure pre-certification is obtained for treatment, lab, CT and bone marrow biopsies.
• Assure active coverage for insurance from the patient.
• Gather benefit information by calling insurance companies to assure benefits meet guidelines. Report to other billing employees the pertinent information and documents in computer.
• Input new patient insurance information into Mosaiq and Epic.
• Check schedule for treatment pre-authorization and notifies chemo RNâ™s of treatment that needs specific information to complete pre-cert.
• Check front desk and scheduling area for new insurance cards for update and follow-up forms for pre-cert throughout the day, documents in Mosaiq and Epic.
• Check for late drop-offs for pre-cert.

Your experience.

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required
• Minimum of three (3) yearsâ™ experience in a front office position in a physician clinic setting with current work experience with patient billing and preauthorization, required
• General applied knowledge of medical terminology, CPT4, ICDCM, HCPCS, Medicare, Medicaid and insurance guidelines, required
• Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire, required
• Strong knowledge of customer service skills, required
