Radiology Student Intern
Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/ Centennial Medical Plaza. Under the supervision of the radiologist, supervisor and a registered technologist, performs procedures in accordance with established protocols for patients of all ages. Responsible for maintaining expert technical and patient-care skills and providing quality diagnostic results. Individual utilizes radiation protection for patients and employees. Individual administers contrast media and responsible for preparing sterile tray and/or fields. Individual assists patients and physicians as directed. Prepares, processes, and documents information to complete exams. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications Position Requirements: A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must provide Radiologic Technology, R.T. (R),registered certification from ARRT within 2 months of graduation from aRadiologic Technology School, or termination of employment will berequired. Current BLS certification through American Heart Associationrequired. B. Education: Must becurrently enrolled in a Radiologic Technology program. C. Experience: Must be insenior year of Radiologic Technology program. D. Special Qualifications: Must befamiliar with the majority of diagnostic radiology procedures with a highdegree of manual skills and dexterity necessary for operation of equipment andpatient care. Must be capable of applying technical skills to allage patients. Degree of supervision required: Involvesgeneral guidance and direction by the Radiology Director, Manager andsupervisor. Indirect supervision by registered technologistrequired. Populations and Ages of Patients Served: This position requires knowledge of growth and developmental needsof patients and families. Personnel in this position must recognizeand respond to the behaviors of patients and families in each agecategory. The employee must be able to demonstrate the specialskills required to care for patients and their families according tostandards. (The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care maybe gained through education, training or experience.)
