Job Summary

Responsible for overall coordination and scheduling of transportation needs. Plans, directs and manages the vehicle fleet, including maintenance and required record keeping. Responsible for human resource management of the transportation function.

Job Duties

  • Schedules and coordinates the route assignments of transportation staff and fleet.
  • Ensures communication is clear and drivers follow through as directed.
  • Organizes routes and schedules daily transportation to and from location, appointments and courier services as needed.
  • Assigns driver schedules for optimal efficiency including flexible scheduling and minimal use of overtime as needed.
  • Completes human resource management of assigned transportation staff including hiring, annual performance appraisals, competency assessments, disciplinary actions, and educational monitoring.
  • Assures participants are transported in a safe manner in compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicles licensing regulations.
  • Oversees maintenance of fleet including routine maintenance checks, repairs, cleaning and licensing.
  • Visually inspects vehicles at least weekly to ensure cleanliness and good repair.
  • Keeps all transportation logs, fuel cards, and maintenance and mileage records.
  • Maintains current driver and escort personnel requirements including safety driving, CPR, First Aide trainings.
  • Keeps drivers and escort staff, including independent contracted vendors, updated on all current policies and procedures affecting the transportation function.
  • Participates in decision making for van purchasing and leasing.
  • Maintains a viable system of transportation staff and Day Center staff communication.
  • Routinely participates in daily team meetings to offer feedback and provides alternative representation for planned or unplanned absences.
  • Completes any required documentation for grant preparation and award as applicable.
  • Assists leadership team with policy and procedure development and review related to transportation function.


Work is typically performed in a transportation vehicle or office. Requires the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Requires sitting and driving a vehicle for an extended period of time. Position Details

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday - Day Shift

This position requires traveling throughout our territory. Company vehicle provided.

Must have 1 year of experience working with the elderly or frail in addition to the minimum requirements listed below.

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)

Experience

Minimum of 1 year-Related work experience (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s)

Valid Driver's License - Default Issuing Body
