Porter's 33-bed Emergency Department is an accredited Level III Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, and is staffed with board-certified emergency physicians, and critically trained nurses. Porter's ED specializes in treatment of complex medical illness, injuries including trauma, stroke, sepsis, and cardiovascular emergencies. The ED has implemented many patient care improvement initiatives including excellence in behavioral health, direct-to-Cath Lab, and nurse-driven geriatric trauma protocols. The Porter ED was honored to be recognized as a 2019 Lantern Award recipient. ED nurse candidates possess good critical thinking and assessment skills, work well within a close interdisciplinary team, and enjoy treating a broad spectrum of patient populations.
The RN Unit Educator is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates expertise in a specific area of clinical nursing and is responsible for developing, implementing, & evaluating a program of education for an assigned population. Programming includes initial and ongoing staff competency (including a standardized department-based orientation), as well as continued education as identified by needs assessments and regulatory requirement initiatives. Applies policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate to their populations. The scope of the education will be determined through collaborative practice with department management, educators, and advanced practice nurses to enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care; assumes the role of an educator, facilitator, consultant, researcher and change agent.
What You Bring/Job Requirements

Minimum Education Requirements Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited School of Nursing Masters Degree in Nursing (MSN), Education, or other related graduate field of study preferred Minimum Experience Requirements Three years of recent ED/ER nursing experience Four years of experience in a clinical speciality preferred Two years of staff development, academic teaching and /or project development coordination preferred Requires advanced knowledge in nursing, evidence-based practice methods, and person-centered care concepts
Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty unit
Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office products and e-learning platform
License/Certifications Current Colorado RN license/ Current RN license from a participating state in National Licensure Compact Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association required Additional certifications may be required (refer to facility addendum(s) Professional certification preferred Demonstrates progress in obtaining staff development certification within one year of meeting eligibility requirements
Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly
