The Nursing Informatics Coordinator functions as a liaison among the Quality Safety Value (QSV) staff, OI&T service, DSS data analysts, and organizational clinical and nonclinical service lines and departments. Incumbent is responsible for identifying and supporting computerization needs and data analysis for QSV and the organization as assigned. Assures stakeholders are supported in the use of information technology, as well as educated and supported with tools. · Plans and implements data mining needs/requirements. Oversees data and information management needs within the department to included monitoring, analysis, presentation and interpretation of data. · Knowledgeable of VHA Directives, Handbooks, Memos, Business Rules and Performance Measures, MVAHCS Policies and Standard Operating Procedures and departmental Standard Operating Procedures and policies. VHA Support Service Center (VSSC) and MVAHCS Data Cell Reports, Clinic Profile Management, DSS Identifiers, Consult Business Rules, and familiarity with Joint Commission (TJC) Standards, Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) Standards, Long Term Care Survey Standards, Allocation Resource Center (ARC), VERA, Managerial Cost Accounting & Analytics (MCAA). · Develops and maintains dashboards, QSV SharePoint sties, tracking tools for continuous improvement and readiness · Summarizes and creates reports for Patient Safety, Risk Management, Controlled Substances, Accreditation, and Performance Improvement Metrics. · Plans, constructs, and maintains databases for data storage, manipulation and retrieval. · Monitors and ensures integrity of database files and stored data. · Develops and generates reports to support facility administrative and clinical operations, ensures the validity of data utilized. ·Analyze Information technology (IT) databases and similar programs using skills in descriptive and multivariate data mining methods, IT and advanced analytical programming. ·Draft reliable methods, strategies, and approaches to ensure valid and reliable information. ·Review requirements of projects to determine objectives of the program, concepts, nature of the unprocessed data, and processes required in support of the computer effort in order to organize work processes and problems for computer solution. ·Evaluate program data, conduct, and evaluate data surveys, perform statistical studies on utilization, and costs related to patient care outcomes, productivity/efficiency, and provide statistical guidance on matters concerning QSV and stakeholder programs. ·Conduct research and statistical studies or projects related to statistical computation in the preparation of utilization and/or productivity data needed to support program activities. ·Develop statistically reliable methods and strategies to integrate various types of health care related data including administrative, quality, cost, utilization, and survey related data.
