The Performing Arts Medicine (PAM) Fellowship at UNTHSC is a formal training program for a period of one year with the intention of providing advanced and concentrated teaching in the principles and related practice of performing arts medicine with supervision by specialists in the field. Although not accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), this fellowship program conforms to the requirements of an ACGME fellowship. This program is intended to provide education of the highest quality through progressive learning experiences that develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge of a physician necessary to efficiently provide quality care. A basic foundation of academic, research, and clinical experience is included, integrating the basic medical sciences and performing arts medicine concepts with clinical manifestations of health and disease.
The UNT Texas Center for Performing Arts Health has been at the forefront of research, education, and clinical care for the medical problems of performing artists since its founding in 1999. Our diverse team of performers, researchers, and clinicians represents the largest collaborative in the United States, and in 2019 we founded an innovative physician fellowship in Performing Arts Medicine, the first of its kind in the world.
