San Luis Valley Health is seeking an EMT Intermediate to join their team. This position will be required to respond in an emergent/non-emergent situation with the ambulance and render aid up to his/her level of training. Will assist the nursing staff in providing care to patients who present in the Emergency Department, and deliver patient care as directed by the ER provider. When not on a call or completing trip reports, EMS personnel are expected to be visible in the hospital on a nursing unit, assisting with patient care as needed.
What You'll Need:
Successful completion of a State Approved EMT course and current Colorado Certification required.
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certification prior to date of hire.
Must be over 21 years of age and meet SLVH vehicle insurance qualifications
ILTS certification recommended within six months of date of hire.
Possess knowledge of an ability to apply emergency medical theory, practices, techniques, and methods
What You'll Do:
Respond to instructions from emergency medical dispatcher and drives specially equipped emergency vehicle.
Determines nature and extent of illness or injury, or magnitude of catastrophe, to establish first aid procedure to be followed or need for additional assistance.
Administers prescribed first aid treatment at site of emergency or in specially equipped vehicle, performing activities in accord with established treatment procedures and protocols commensurate with level of certification.
Work in other departments as assigned by his or her supervisor or director.
Maintain current Colorado certification through education such as college courses, re-certification classes, conferences, and online education.
