You.
You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Your compassion is tangible: patients feel it in the hand they hold. Families feel it in your prayers. Colleagues feel it in your support.
You know how to stay organized and move fast. You thrive in fast-paced environments.
Youâ™re great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Because you believe that while individuals can be strong, the right team is invincible.
Us.
Lutheran Medical Center is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. Our 249-bed community-based hospital has been awarded the highest national recognition possible for nursing excellence â“ Magnet designation â“ by the ANCC. We are proud to extend the mission of SCL Health by providing comprehensive, specialty care to the poor, the vulnerable, our communities and each other. Dating back to 1905, we are proud of the rich history and inspiring mission our hospital has embodied for over 110 years.
Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, weâ™ve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. We also offer financial wellness tools and retirement planning.
We.
Together weâ™ll align mission and careers, values and workplace. Weâ™ll honor each otherâ™s dignity and surpass the standards we set. Weâ™ll encourage joy, demand safety and take pride in our integrity.
Weâ™ll laugh at each otherâ™s jokes (even the bad ones). We'll say hello and high five. Weâ™ll celebrate milestones and acknowledge the value of spirituality in healing.
Weâ™re proud of what we know, which includes how much there is to learn.
Your day.
As an LPN you need to know how to:
Assist in collection of a holistic, age-specific admission history and physical assessment. Deliver nursing plan of care on all assigned patients.
Perform phlebotomy procedures, collect specimens and assist in coordinating lab result reports and perform quality control checks.
Maintain unit equipment and ensure that equipment is clean, stored in the appropriate storage area, and ready for use. Remove defective equipment from service and report any non-working or unsafe equipment or facility fixtures.
Assist in scheduling tests ordered by the health care provider. Obtain appropriate treatment authorizations, schedule specialist appointments, call client companies, and schedule follow up appointments.
Assist with discharge activities including completing discharge documents, reviewing post visit instructions related to medications, activity, and wound care, and follow-up appointments and questions.
Your experience.
We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:
Graduate of an accredited LPN program, required.
Current LPN license, required.
Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire (with prior approval), required.
Current IV certification or ability to obtain IV certification in the state of practice within three (3) months of hire, required.
At least one (1) year of LPN experience, preferred.
Your next move.
Now that you know more about being an LPN on our team we hope youâ™ll join us. At SCL Health youâ™ll reaffirm every day how much you love this work, and why you were called to it in the first place.
