Your day.

As a Nurse Extern you need to know how to:

• Respond to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting patients with hygiene care and nourishment, obtaining vital signs, and communicating constructively, effectively and timely with members of the care team


• PIV insertion, maintenance and removal


• Perform venipunctures


• Perform foley catheter insertion, care and removal


• Perform safe wound care


• Check and document patient vitals, glucose, inputs and outputs


• Perform secondary assessments as additions to the primary assessment performed by a Registered Nurse


• Insert Nasogastric tubes


• Provide patient and family education related to the patientâ™s disease process, medications and interventions related to plan of care


• May administer medications with direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and dual signoff


• Document patient care with additional signature of Registered Nurse

Your experience.

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

• Student in good standing in an accredited School of Nursing program having completed a minimum of medical/surgical rotation 1


• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire (with prior approval)

Preferred:

• Completion of all clinical coursework with the exception of final/capstone course


• At least one (1) year of previous experience in a healthcare setting
