The Research Associate - Flow Cytometry will work closely with research scientists and assist in the training of new users as and when required. Operate flow cytometers, including sorters and analyzers, in adherence with appropriate quality control procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Independently anticipate, identify and troubleshoot issues on data analysis for internal and external collaborations.
Previously demonstrated thorough working knowledge of Flow Cytometry Data Analysis preferably on FlowJo software in the form of published work.
Schedule, record, and track utilization for the facility.
Perform cell isolation and antibody staining techniques for optimal specimen preparation.
Assist in the creation and revision of laboratory policies and technical procedures.
General lab duties such as ordering supplies, lab housekeeping.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Knowledge of basic lab techniques including pipetting, staining, culture techniques and aliquoting.
Ability to troubleshoot instruments and perform lab maintenance tasks.
Knowledge of safety practices related to work performed.
Skilled in use of computer software related to research needs including presentation and data investigation programs.
Able to instruct others in lab and safety protocols.
Ability to give scientific presentations.
Strong background in Immunology is preferred.
Experience with multi-parameter FACS sorting on BD flow cytometers is preferred but not required.
Knowledge in multi-parameter flow cytometry analysis of immune cells, especially utilizing large antibody panels.
