The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, has an immediate opening for a full-time, board certified/board eligible Surgical Service Chief. Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the 'Ark-La-Tex', the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. You'll enjoy a unique combination of two great American heritages: a little Cajun, and since we're less than 15 minutes from the Texas border, a little Lone Star, too. Highlights of this position include:
Competitive Starting Salary $375,000 - $400,000
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm.
Responsible for the training program for all phases of surgical care approved for this Medical Center.
Works collaboratively with other health care professionals to accomplish patient, service, and medical center goals, promoting and embracing the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care
Plans, implements, directs, and evaluates the activities of the service, including requirements for staff, budget, equipment, and supplies.
Conducts the programs through assistance of subordinates but is ultimately responsible for the success and the fulfillment of the overall vision and mission of the program.
Responsible to the Chief of Staff in the overall management of the Surgical Service.
Promotes quality patient care as a clinical expert in comprehensive surgical care.
Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not found
Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State
Must be board certified or bored eligible by start date
