The Fayetteville VA Medical Center's Surgical Care Service Line is seeking dedicated and skilled individuals to join our esteemed Eye Section. We offer an opportunity to serve our nation's Veterans while working in a state-of-the-art facility alongside a team of highly qualified professionals.
About Us:
Fully integrated service including ophthalmologists, optometrists, low vision staff, nurse case managers, nursing staff, and an RCI consult team.
Dedicated technician support, on-site lasers, and optical shops.
Affiliated with 44 colleges and universities, including UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, and Campbell University Pharmacy Residency Program.
Responsibilities:
Care for veterans in the outpatient clinic and operating room.
Supervise UNC ophthalmology residents.
Candidates Qualifications:
US Citizen.
Board Certified in Ophthalmology.
Preferred 3+ years of experience for the Chief role.
Our Facilities:
Fayetteville VA Medical Center.
Two health care centers (Fayetteville and Wilmington).
18 outpatient clinics serving approximately 80,000 veterans across 19 counties in southeastern North Carolina.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, primarily day shift (Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM) with secondary call.
Residents take call first, with attendees providing backup if needed.
Benefits:
Recruitment or Relocation Incentive: May Be Authorized
Education Debt Reduction Program: Up to $200,000 over 5 years with a maximum of $40,000 per year.
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days annually (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 Federal holidays, and up to 5 days paid CME absence).
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% contributions by VA.
