UW Health Northern Illinois (UWHNI), a 350+ bed, twice Magnet accredited hospital formerly known as SwedishAmerican, is located in Rockford, Illinois, approximately ninety miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Throughout UWHNI's 110-year history, it has been a pillar of the Rockford community. As UWHNI continues to evolve and further integrate with UW Health, they seek a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as their next Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Reporting to the President, UWHNI and Chief Medical Officer for UW Health, The CMO is the key physician leader for UWHNI and is a member of the UW Northern IL Senior Leadership Team. The VP/CMO is responsible for leading, directing and administering medical staff and other physicians in accordance with the mission, vision and values of UWHNI.

The CMO is responsible for providing overall leadership, direction and coordination of operations, finances, space, and human resources for all operating areas within range of responsibility. The CMO will develop and/or implement appropriate institutional policies and procedures to enhance efficient and effective operations and delivery of services within areas of responsibility and translate strategic plans and budget targets into operational action plans which guide resource allocation and the coordination and direction of personnel; direct operations in areas of responsibility to achieve the annual operating plan.

The next CMO will embody qualities of collaboration and accountability and will be an excellent communicator, adept at leading in a highly matrixed environment. Candidates should possess a minimum of five years of progressively responsible management or supervisory level experience related to physician/medical staff administration. A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) is required; a Master of Medical Management, business administration, or equivalent is preferred.

The compensation for this position includes a salary targeted between $395,000 to $445,000, along with market-competitive incentive compensation and benefits. This compensation level is a good faith determination of anticipated compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
