Under the general supervision of the PACU Manager, the PACU Nurse is responsible for rendering and/or directing professional and nonprofessional personnel in the delivery of patient care by use of the nursing process, and for coordination of related activities. The PACU Nurse is responsible for seeing that the plan of care is followed through direct performance and/or leadership of other personnel in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Requirements:
A. Education/Skills
? Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred
B. Experience
? 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred
? Critical Care/ED experience preferred
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
? BLS required
? RN License in state of employment or compact
? Current ACLS certification at time of hire or within 12 weeks of hire for experienced RNs or completion by the end of the clinical orientation period for new graduate nurses. Maintain certification thereafter.
? Current PALS certification at time of hire or within 12 weeks of hire for experienced RNs or completion by the end of the clinical orientation period for new graduate nurses. Maintain certification thereafter.
? Moderate Sedation within 3 months of hire for experienced RNs or within 12 months of hire for new graduate nurses. Maintain certification annually.
? Current Arrhythmia recognition at time of hire or within 8 weeks of hire for experienced RNs or completion within 6 months for new graduate nurses. Maintain certification thereafter.
