Job Summary
The Art Therapist plans or conducts Art Therapy sessions or programs to improve clients' physical, cognitive or emotional well-being.
Essential Functions of the Role
Plans, directs and coordinates medically approved therapeutic art sessions designed to enhance patient physical, emotional and learning skills.
Observes, examines and records patient's participation, reactions and progress during treatment sessions, modifying treatment programs as needed.
Develops an art therapy treatment plan and sets patient goals. Maintains flexibility to adjust for the patient's emotional or physical limitations.
Prepares tasks and conducts art therapy sessions to improve patient's mental health and physical well-being.
Confers with members of treatment team to plan and evaluate therapy programs.
Prepares and submits reports to treatment team to reflect patient's reactions and evidence of progress or regression.
Develops community art projects in coordination with the arts in medicine program coordinator.
Maintains studio/office space and supplies.
Key Success Factors
Knowledge of rules, methods, and procedures for the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
Knowledge of human behavior and performance includes personal differences in ability, personality, and interests.
Skill in observing and knowledge of personal reactions.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to draw conclusions.
Ability to provide personal assistance and emotional help to patients and family members.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
Registered Art Therapist (ART), Board Certified Art Therapist (ART-BC): Must become either a Registered Art Therapist or Board Certified Art Therapist within 1 year of hire.
