On behalf of Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware (DE), CareerPhysician, the national leader in academic child health executive search and leadership development, invites applications and nominations for a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the next Division Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology. The ideal candidate will provide vision, leadership, and oversee all divisional missions, including care delivery, education, research, and advocacy. The Division Chief reports directly to the Chair of Pediatrics.
Division Strengths
- Cohesive, Supportive Culture: Collegial and supportive environment with low turnover, mitigating burnout.
- Established Leadership & Operations: Under the retiring Division Chief's long-standing leadership, the division has grown significantly, expanding to seven clinic locations across DE, PA, and NJ, along with a Telehealth clinic for MD patients.
- Robust Clinical Infrastructure: The diabetes program is nationally recognized, ADA-accredited, and a member of the T1D Exchange, with growing involvement in clinical trials. Nemours' EHR, analytics, and population-health tools enhance care and scholarship.
- Educational Excellence: Award-winning teaching faculty and a newly ACGME-accredited fellowship program that strengthens academic rigor and serves as a recruitment pipeline.
- Specialty & Multidisciplinary Programs: Strengths in thyroid cancer, transition care, and Turner/Klinefelter syndromes, with thriving collaborations in orthopedics and oncology.
- Healthy Weight & Wellness (HWW) Program: A growing interdisciplinary initiative with strong demand and opportunities in metabolic and obesity therapeutics.
The division includes 8 pediatric endocrinologists, 1 fellow, 1 PA, 4 NPs, 8 specialty nurses, and the HWW team, caring for 9,700 patients annually across the region.
Opportunities for Impact
The incoming Chief will inherit a thriving, collaborative division and have the chance to:
- Elevate Academic Profile: Grow scholarship and national visibility by leveraging the fellowship program, supporting junior faculty with individualized development plans (IDPs), and expanding QI and research pathways.
- Expand Signature Programs: Build on existing strengths to formalize disease-focused programs in bone health, neuroendocrinology, transition care, and thyroid oncology, while enhancing integration with the HWW program and NICU/PICU/ED services.
- Grow the Fellowship: Use the fellowship to attract new talent and foster a robust academic culture.
- Optimize Operations: Refine workflows through EHR and analytics, standardize staffing across sites, and strategically use telehealth and school-based partnerships to improve access and efficiency.
- Advance Research: Translate QI/registry work into publications, expand diabetes and immunology trials, leverage the HWW program for outcomes research, and collaborate with the University of Delaware on AI/CDS initiatives.
- Increase National Visibility: Strengthen Nemours' presence through faculty engagement in PES/Endocrine Society leadership, guidelines, and consortia, while differentiating Nemours as a community-focused, patient-centered alternative to larger regional centers.
- Develop Strategic Partnerships: Deepen collaborations with Thomas Jefferson, and Nemours programs to launch joint seminars, shared cores, and new clinical initiatives.
