Medical Instrument Technician - Endoscopy
Medical Instrument Technicians (MIT-GI) at this level require a high level of knowledge regarding endoscopic instruments and use in basic and complex procedures as well as anatomy and physiology related to the GI system, with the ability to recognize and report obvious abnormalities during procedures. The incumbent serves as a member of the Gastroenterology (GI) Section of Medical Service at the VA Maine Healthcare System. The GI Endoscopy subsection is responsible for providing the full range of clinical procedures related to gastroenterology care. The incumbent aids the physicians and nurses with basic and complex procedures, including but not limited to ECP and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).
