The Millington Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) has an opening for a Neurologist that offers a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). The CBOC is a part of the Department of Veterans Affairs and falls under the Memphis VA Medical Center. It’s one of the largest of twelve community-based clinics within the Memphis VA clinical networks. Neurology Department is made up of physician assistants, EEG and EMG technicians, and four full-time providers with expertise in neurophysiology, epilepsy, vascular neurology, and neuro-palliative care.
The Memphis VA is a 1a complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The main campus provides comprehensive care to almost 69,000 Veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in vast areas of medicine, to include but not limited to cardiology, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, geriatrics, women’s health, and dentistry.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Design your own outpatient clinical setup, with flexibility in appointment duration and modality to include virtual care.
Provide consultation on various forms of neurological disease states, both for diagnosis and treatment in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Supervise and teach a variety of learners including residents and medical students from multiple specialties.
Share attending call responsibilities with other neurologists in covering some nights, weekend, and holiday calls as needed.
Clinical activities may include, but are not limited to, clinical assessments and evaluations – inpatient and outpatient. Healthcare management of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses.
Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies.
Health promotion and disease prevention education: patient, family members, caregivers, staff education, and counseling.
Stays informed on developments in the management and treatment of diseases and illnesses through continuing medical education.
Highlights of this position include:
$275,000-$285,000 (Negotiable)
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri: 8AM-4:30PM
CME Reimbursement: Possible $2000 per year (Must be Board Certified)
