Position Details:
Day Shift Hours: Mon-Fri (6am - 2:30pm)
No routine weekend/holiday rotations
Histology tasks including Embedding, Microtomy, IHC/Special Stainers
Help lead/design validations and projects, create bench assignments, oversight on CAP readiness
Assist team as needed with technical issues
Support & collaborate with leadership on priorities, projects, and process improvement initiatives
Experience:
HT(ASCP), HTL(ASCP), Team Lead, Lead tech
Requirements:
Bachelor?s Degree in Physical/Life Science or related field
CT-ASCP, HT-ASCP, or HTL-ASCP or equivalent

Role Purpose
Performs all duties of a cytotechnologist or histotechnologist/histotechnician, utilizing the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of all patients and clients by providing quality results in a timely manner. Provides daily operational oversight (determine schedules, manage day to day workflow, and give input into an assessment or disciplinary action). Provides technical support to all bench level positions within Anatomic Pathology. May be responsible for one or more technical areas of focus, to include training, quality assurance, and technical support.
Responsibilities
Assesses workload, prioritizes work, makes staffing adjustments and assists staff when needed. Coordinates/reviews schedules with supervisors and coordinators to ensure adequate staffing for shift.
Focuses on quality by assembling and reviewing statistical data and assuring performance of all quality control procedures. Ensures quality control and instrumentation maintenance records meet standards of accrediting and licensing agencies. Assist the department Lab Director and Lab Supervisors, as appropriate, in the implementation of new QC/QA policies and continuous quality improvement programs in accordance with the Quality Management Program. Provides support during inspections.
Oversees department operations in the absence of a supervisor. Coordinates the operation of the anatomic pathology information system within the laboratory.
Ability to perform, maintain quality, and troubleshoot testing in a broad range of histochemical, immunohistochemical, immunofluorescent, and/or cytochemical procedures.
Mentors and/or trains new and established staff members and students in routine and specialized techniques used in the laboratory. Participates in competency assessment of staff and proctors competency or proficiency testing.
