The multidisciplinary team is committed to serving the rare and complex testing needs of Duke Health patients by providing timely and accurate results, educating the next generation of laboratorians, scientists and physicians, and researching and developing the cutting-edge diagnostics of tomorrow.
Job Summary
Support the clinical and anatomic pathology laboratories on a daily basis with a wide variety of functions and regularly required to resolve moderately complex (non-routine) administrative problems independently or with others. Tasks are typically diverse and advanced. Duties and responsibilities for this position classification are specified by the medical director are as follows.
Hours:
7:00 am -3:30 pm Monday- Friday
Work Performed
Transcribe dictation and edit DRAGON for pathologist assistants and pathologists in an accurate and timely manner.
Manage slide, block, immune and recut requests
Handle and prepare pathology billing
Prepare Pathology and Surgical QI reports
Manage pathology on call schedule
Manage offsite archiving
Scanning and uploading of manual requisitions and outside facility pathology reports into EPIC
Preparation of employee folders
Assist with organization of safety committee documents
Complete payroll edits and paper exception forms (to include deviation sheets) in a detailed and timely manner
Independently prepare more complex documentation, reports, charts, graphs, and spreadsheets at designate intervals and as requested.
Coordinate special projects.
Plays a key role in laboratory WC committees (lab week, employee of the quarter)
Support department events by assisting in making event arrangements i.e. catering
Develop advanced presentation materials.
Respond to all customer inquiries and matters in a professional and positive manner incorporating the Duke values into all interactions
Prioritize and resolve inquiries (phone, e-mail, in person).
Prepare copies, scans, laminating and faxing as needed.
Prepare FedEx packages for send out.
Schedule and maintain calendar of appointments, meetings and travel itineraries, and coordinate related arrangements (pathologists).
Pick up, sort and distribute laboratory mail.
Collect, compile and analyze moderately complex data and information.
Manage and order office supplies for the laboratory.
Manage conference room bookings
Submit reimbursements online as required
Floral arrangements
Perform administrative tasks for the lab manager and supervisory staff
Maintain electronic employee lockers in SoftTech to house employee required documents
Handle miscellaneous staff requests.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills necessary to facilitate positive interactions with co-workers, patients (and patient families), lab leadership and all laboratory customers.
