About the Department:
Environmental Services (EVS) plays a critical role across the Duke University Medical Complex, supporting Duke University Hospital (DUH), the School of Medicine (SOM), and the School of Nursing (SON). Our teams work behind the scenes- often on the front lines to ensure patient care environments are safe, clean, and welcoming for patients, visitors, students, faculty, and staff.

Roles We Are Hiring For
Utility Worker (UTW): Focuses on maintaining patient care areas through high-quality cleaning, disinfection, and room turnover in accordance with hospital standards.
Floor Finisher (FF): Specializes in comprehensive floor care services, including stripping, waxing, scrubbing, brushing, and maintaining both hard and soft floor surfaces across the medical complex.
General Shift Availability
EVS operates 24/7 to support the ongoing needs of the medical complex. Job offers and specific shift assignments will be extended based on current availability and operational needs. Positions are typically available on the following schedules:
Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Evening Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
Night Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Minimum Requirements
Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED is preferred. The work requires the ability to read, comprehend, and follow both oral and written instructions.
Experience: At least one year of general housekeeping experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
