Job Description:
Performs pre-admission testing for all out-patients undergoing cardiac procedures in the Cath Lab, EP Lab, or Non-invasive suite. Coordinates with appropriate lab Supervisor and staff to ensure efficient workflow and quality patient care. Provides pre and post care for all diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures to patients of all demographics. Assesses and intervenes appropriately for patients following cardiac procedures. Monitors patients following the administration of moderate sedation provided by the Anesthesia team. Communicates effectively with staff, patients, families, and cardiology services administration. Demonstrates core values of integrity, compassion, balance, excellence, and teamwork. Utilizes department supplies and resources efficiently and cost-effectively. Reports equipment malfunctions and discontinue use to prevent patient harm and costly repairs. Follows infection control policies and adhere to regulatory standards, enforcing safety regulations. Assists with the orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Assists in transporting of patients to and from procedures. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • EKG Competency [Preferred]
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy. [Preferred]
• Knowledge of critical care medication. [Preferred]
• Competency in Moderate Sedation. [Preferred]
• Excellent assessment skills. [Required]
• Able to learn and comprehend the hemodynamic monitoring software. [Required]
• Able to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures. [Required]
• Experience with Windows operating system. [Required]
• Knowledge of the all anatomy including circulatory neuro systems. [Required]
• Responsible to maintain all required registries and licenses to perform Registered Nursing duties. [Required]
• Able to operate all equipment in post cardiac recovery unit [Required]
• Assists in patient flow through the Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiology areas. [Required]
• Assists in training new employees once becoming independent. [Required]
• Performs properly and legibly documents and assessments in accordance with department policies. [Required]
• Recent post cardiac cath care experience. [Preferred]
• Able to perform safe and proper technique for sheath pulls [Preferred]
• Able to identify and intervene for hematomas [Preferred]
• Advanced Telemetry knowledge [Preferred]
• Cath Lab Prep and Recovery nursing for at least 2 years [Preferred]
• Trained in Non-Invasive procedures [Preferred]
Education: • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Field of Study: • N/A
Work Experience: • 2+ years acute care experience [Preferred]
• 2+ years post cardiac recovery experience [Preferred]
