Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our nationally recognized team in Indianapolis. As a leader in neonatal care, Riley Children’s treats more than 3,500 newborns annually across its Level IV and Level III NICUs. Our multidisciplinary team—comprised of board-certified neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and pediatric subspecialists—delivers comprehensive, lifesaving care that often begins prenatally and continues through the NICU stay and beyond. We work closely with maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric surgical and medical subspecialties, and neurodevelopmental follow-up programs to ensure seamless, family-centered care. This position will primarily support the 12-bed Level III NICU at the new Community Health Network Westfield. The hospital will offer 24/7 access to in-house Riley neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and a full range of pediatric subspecialists via consultation. This hospital is expected to open early 2027.
Key Responsibilities
Attend deliveries of high-risk neonatal patients
Care for neonatal patients requiring ICU level care; develop plan of care
Perform procedures including intubations, PICC, UAL/UVL, chest tube placement and management, lumbar puncture, and thoracentesis
Provision of patient and family centered care
Active participation in quality and safety initiatives
Active participation in Department of Neonatology and Advanced Practice provider service specific educational and improvement initiatives
24-hr shifts are an expectation of the role and include in-house Neo coverage during the dat. In-house Neo coverage at night varies by location.
Qualifications
Masters degree required
NNP or PA-Neonatal certification required
At least 2 years of APP experience at a Level II or IV NICU setting
Delivery room experience
Proven ability to provide independent APP coverage during night shifts, managing acute neonatal care
Fully credentialled in all required procedures, as defined by institutional standards
