In this role you will work across all food service stations, ensuring each is properly set up before meal services with food items and equipment. You will prepare, store and rotate items daily, follow proper sanitation and food handling procedures, and maintain a clean, organized work area. You’ll present menus to patients, assist them with meal selections, and deliver meals according to the diet master list. After meal service, you will collect trays, transport food carts to designated areas, and deliver snacks as needed. You’ll also help maintain retail service operations, support dish room and pot room functions, and perform general housekeeping duties to keep the department running smoothly. Other related tasks may be assigned as needed.
Salary Range: 21.05-25.64/hr
Effective 06/22/2025, employees
represented by the AFSCME Union will receive a minimum wage of $25.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in food service, including food preparation, tray assembly and delivery.
Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English sufficient to identify food items and match them with menu selections.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced tray assembly environment.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations without the use of a calculator.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Basic knowledge and understanding of various diets and dietary restrictions.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with coworkers, medical staff, patients, supervisors, and management.
Ability to adhere to departmental dress code and appearance standards.
Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive physical activities such as stretching, bending, pushing, walking, lifting, and reaching.
Ability to work in various environments, including hot, cold, and/or wet areas.
Ability to lift, push, pull heavy carts or equipment safely.
Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Ability to adjust to fluctuating workload demands and prioritize tasks effectively.
Willingness to attend and participate in departmental training sessions as required.
