The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our dynamic research team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with molecular cloning, RT-PCR, mutagenesis, mammalian cell culture, immunoassays, western blots, and microscopy studies. Your contributions will support cutting-edge research into intravascular triglyceride metabolism and the role of nuclear lamins in health and disease.

Hourly range: $27.46-$32.68
- Prior experience in biologic research
- Expertise with molecular biology and the ability to learn new techniques
- Skill in laboratory techniques
- Working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment
- Ability to communicate verbally and to understand and carry out verbal instructions. Skill in communicating clearly and effectively to receive and convey information accurately and in a professional manner
- Be well organized, keep neat and detailed records
- Ability to manage a heavy workload with shifting priorities and to ensure completion of all work in a timely manner.
- Analytical skills to assess relevant information, practices and procedures, define problems, formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions and to make recommendations
- Ability to work with mice and maintain accurate records of all mouse studies
- Skill in laboratory safety protocols including proper handling of biohazardous and chemical waste
